It gets dark now around 4pm.
That can be a bit... well, depressing.
But, every now and again we get moments of sunlight, daybreaks I call them. I found myself with my photographer friend, Rory Savatgy of savatgy.com the other day, making the most of a mini-movement break at Boulevard park. Here are some fun photos to help inspire you to move, get outside (despite the gloomy weather), and maybe even get upside down. I have also included a little blurb to go with each photo, reflecting on how movement can affect your state of mind.
Check out my other site www.clubbellyoga.tv to see where I will be teaching [indoor] yoga this January in the Pacific Northwest, specially Seattle and Vancouver.
Flying, or jumping makes me feel weightless. To be able to elevate even for a moment, gives a sense of freedom.
Inversions are exhilarating, can bring bloodflow to the brain. Boosting creativity and cerebral function.
Short walks outside in beautiful public places, near water or trees or both can decrease cortisol levels.
Balance and play, or using your surroundings to make 'movement art' puts me right into the present.
Slowing down to notice little things (like the heart above my hands) helps to cultivate a sense of love and gratitude. The tree pose resembles grounding, and the heart represents namaste - the light in me honors the light in you.
Thank you to Rory for always inspiring play, creative projects, movement, balance and for your awesome photography work. Your handstands are getting really good.
